rain.

May 2, 2006

a pretty rainy breezy night. perfect for blog making.

There was a little distant thunder, a harmless rumble, low and deep, fading away only seconds after the flash of lightning.
She reminded herself she probably wouldn't get struck, since she had blocks and blocks of concrete surrounding her, and she wasn't in a detective movie. But she couldn't assure herself.
She shifted her weight to the other leg. The tip tapping of raindrops on her grey umbrella was making her uneasy. The water on the pavement soaked into her heels and toes. Soon, the sound of the rain merged to become one long and continuous sizzle. The shine from the street lamps blurred.
  Another lightning, another thunder.
Then suddenly, everything blacked out. No street lamps, no lights from the buildings, and except for the pouring rain, no sound. It was like the earth decided to close its eyes. There was a flash of lightning, showing the blurred silhouettes of the angles of the buildings, the words on the shop windows. Then everything went black again.
She tightened her grip on the umbrella, in a frantic search for light. It was like she was blind, and near deaf, she couldn't see anything, feel anything, hear anything. She needed to get help. She dug her hand into her bag to get her mobile, then after half a minute of searching, she realized she had left it at the office. It was too dark for her to walk back. It was just too dark. She widened her eyes, manipulating her brain for night vision, but only made her eyes sore and heart tighten. She needed just one spot of light, but there was none to be seen.
The spot of light came, in the form of another lightening, lasting for a fraction of a second. It was enough to feed her hungry eyes, they were in panic, craving for a chance to work. The light sting into her pupils, it was not comfortable. Then it was darkness again, creeping around her, surrounding her, clenching her vision, holding her.
She was granted one more flash of lightning, and a low grunt from the sky. Then-
  "Christine?"
Someone was there! She could almost make out who called her name. She just needed some light-
  "Nelson? Is that you?"

i don't know why i can strangely exploit everything and turn them all into mild romance.
it's kind of a bad thing.
now let's see how long it'll take for someone to actually discover this.
